My Home

My name is Tmnit and I live in a cold, snowy place called Yukon. I am going to tell you about what it is like to walk into my warm and safe home after school on a -40C day. At -40C, I begin walking from school bundled up, even my face is covered with my blue, fleece neck warmer. As I am walking, my eyelashes begin to form icicles and all I am thinking about is the warmth of my home. I am also thinking about reading a book on my sofa while covered with blankets. I am hoping my mom left spaghetti and meatballs for my snack. When I arrive home, I take off my mittens to unlock the door. I try to go as fast as possible, so my hands don’t freeze. I rush inside and feel the wonderful heat. I go straight to the sofa, grab my book Wings of Fire, and pull my grey, fluffy, furry blanket over me. After a while, I start to think of the spaghetti and meatballs my mom left me in the kitchen. I am so grateful to be home, safe and warm, waiting for the rest of my noisy family to arrive. I love my home every day. I love my home a little bit more when it is -40C!
