Feeling Homesick

Recently I went on a 2 week trip to Thailand for Christmas break. Sure this sounds like an average trip but, after the first week, I started to feel homesick. For me, feeling homesick is not an easy feeling. It really bothers me. So to me, home feels like a lot of things. Home is a place where I play with my cat and bond with my parents. Home is a place where I can never get lost. To be honest, I don’t really need this ipad, sure it would be nice but, there are things that I need more, and that are more important than an ipad, like family. Anyways, when I was in Thailand, home felt like my kitten, friends, my people, the colder weather, and frankly, school. Sitting in class writing this really made me look back on all the great times I had in Thailand, but it also reminds me of all the great times I've had here with my friends, family, and school. To truly know the meaning of home, you have to leave it first like when I went on vacation. This is because when you leave home, after a while you will miss it and value it even more than before. When you value it and miss it, you want to go home even more. Imagine vacationing for a month where people don’t speak your language and you don’t understand them. After a while, it starts to drive you crazy. You miss your home, value it more and want to go home more and more everyday. Then when you get home, you never really want to leave again for a while. That’s what I mean about having to leave your home to know the meaning of home.
