What Home Means to Me

Home (noun) – the place one lives permanently, especially as a member of a household. But for me, there’s more to it than that. Home isn’t just a place; it’s way more than that. It’s not just a shelter where you sleep and eat your meals. Home is where you live, laugh, love, and dream. It’s where you see your first steps and your first discoveries. Your first possessions, memories, and experiences all come from home. Home is where you’re needed, and the people who love you are. Home is a lot different than a house, which is made of walls and pillars. A home is held up with love, care, and empathy, things that people who care about you show. Sometimes fights, misunderstandings, and jealousy happen, but so do apologies, forgiveness, and empathy. Home is when my dog greets me at the front door. It’s when my parents embrace me in a warm hug. My home isn’t perfect. It’s far from it. That’s what makes it what home is.
