Home is NOT a Noun
Home is not a noun!
It is an emotion, a feeling.
It is love.
And that love comes from people who care about me.
People like my mom, my dad and my little brother.
When I hear my heart go da-dum, da-dum, da-dum, when I feel my heart become 100% full of love, when my frown transforms into a cheerful smile, that is when I know I am at home.
I can finally be my true self, my goofy, playful and cheeky self.
My home is a safe place, where I can be free to do whatever I want, whenever I want.
That safe spot is with my family. My loving, adoring, nurturing, and one of a kind family.
They're my lucky charm that protects me from all harm, that picks me up after each fall I take, each mistake I make.
They’re the shooting star of my universe.
When I’m with my family, everything just fades away, my mind clears up, there’s nothing to worry, just me, my parents, and my little brother.
It's like we’re in outer space and we can't return to planet Earth.
But, as long as we’re together, as long as nothing tears us apart, we can rest because we’re at home.
Thank you Habitat for Humanity for giving me this opportunity to help my local habitat and to self-reflect the meaning of home.
