What Home Means to Me

What does home mean to you? To me, home is not necessarily a structure; it is also a feeling. Home is like a cloud. The walls expand as I walk in. I feel like I am floating. Home is a place where I am free. Home is a place where family and friends are welcome. Home is a place where memories are made, where I feel safe, cozy, and where I am welcome. First of all, memories are made in every home. Whether they are made with family, friends, or anyone else, every memory is important. Memories are like a pipe bursting (except they aren't a bad thing). Thousands upon thousands are being made every day. Then, over the course of time, a home can be flooded with memories. Secondly, I feel safe in my home. When I go to bed, I feel safe because I know that the doors are locked. My home is a safe place because my parents are caring people. My home is like a bunker during a tornado. Safety is a key part of a home. Every home should feel safe. Thirdly, home is a place where I feel cozy. Home is cozy because it is warm. My home is a calm and comfortable place. Home is the feeling of sinking into your couch. Feeling cozy is a key part of a home at its best. Lastly, in my home, I feel welcome. My family knows and calls me by name, which makes me feel welcome. The piano, my bed, and the furniture call my name. Home is like a welcome mat. Even if you don't have a welcome mat, the feeling of being welcome is always inside you. In conclusion, home is an important part of my life. I would like to thank Habitat for Humanity for providing homes for others so that memories can be made, people can feel safe, cozy, and welcome in their homes. Everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live.
