When I am at Home

When I am at home, it is a place where you feel protected and loved. To make it feel like home, there are all these small moments that make a home whole. Every morning, I hear my mom making my lunch. When I hear this in the morning, it gives me a sense of security. It also makes me feel loved and leaves me knowing I will have a good day. When I get home from school, the smell of dinner fills the house. Leaving me with an aroma of apple pie and a scented candle. With my dog Ruca lying at my feet while watching a movie makes me feel safe. Sometimes, it’s when I am playing hockey with my friends on the outdoor rink in the frosty winter air that makes me feel at home. Or the pickup baseball games in the afternoon sunlight on the diamond. When all these things happen, I know I’m safe. I know I’m loved. I know that I am truly at home.
