Home is in Your Heart

Sometimes I come home laughing. Singing. Smiling. But then sometimes I come home crying. Tears. Upset I don't have to worry though because my home is always here for me. My house may change, but my home will forever be here. In my heart. Most people say their kitchen is their happy place. A place where people gather. Food that makes you have a massive smile that touches your eyes. Smells that take up all breathing space. Conversations that clash with the knives and forks. The place that people yearn for after the day is done. The place people love. Everything in the living room is stocked with different voices and lasting moments. Music crams the space from time to time, expressing feelings that you can't figure out, so the music does it for you. Whistles being blown on the T.V. This is the living room. And this is how it's going to stay. Sometimes all you need is a good laugh or cry and something moving on a screen will fix it all. Family movie nights enduring for 3 hours. The beeping of the microwave, knowing that popcorn will soon be sitting next to you. Movies that make you laugh, cry, and have pity. Characters that will stay in your life and help you push on. Time gradually slips by; how did it get to be two in the morning? Though your home may be small, big, or tall, your home is always there for you. Forever. No matter how old or young. When you're happy or crying. Your home knows all about you. But when the time comes and you must depart, remember you're leaving a house, not a home. Remember to thank your home for always being in your heart.
