O Habitat for Humanity is an organization that helps families in need by building homes and helping them get back on their feet. Everyone should have a safe place to call home. Habitat for Humanity helps hard working families build a home they can afford. Did you know 1 in 5 Canadians are spending half their income on their homes? Since 1990 Habitat for Humanity has helped over 400 families including 1,200 children. They make homeowning simpler for working families even if they have a steady job, it could still be hard for them to pay for it. Habitat for Humanity makes it simpler for them. They do not just get the house for free, they have to give 500 hours of building help to earn it. In this essay, I will talk more about Habitat for Humanity and what they do and explain why my home is important to me. I love my home because everyday I get to go home and see my pets and family. When I walk in the door my pets greet me, especially my dog. Thats how I know I'm home. I always have a shadow at home with my pets and that makes me feel safe and secure. I like to call my friends house my home too, I can go there and she makes me feel like I belong there. She doesn't judge me and I can be myself. Most of my friends live close to me and I am very fortunate for that. This proves that home can come in many forms and does not always mean the same four walls. Lastly why I love home is the first thing I do when I get home is get in my pajames. It makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. Being able to be calm is a way I feel safe. Habitat for Humanity is an awesome organization that helps families and if anybody sees them out in the community you should do what you can to help them build a home for a family in need. Take a few hours of your time to help a family in need because some don't have a safe place.
