Habitat for Humanity
Essay Contest - Writing about Home

Habitat for Humanity is a group of people that help others build affordable and safe housing. They help with down payments. Habitat for Humanity has helped families who do not have homes from all over the world. In this essay, I will talk about Habitat for Humanity and what they do and explain why my home is so important.
Houses give you shelter from snow, rain, hail and more. If you don't have proper shelter you can get seriously injured from the weather plus if you only have a tent it can fly away in the wind, but a house can't. A house keeps you safe from the elements. My house is in Alberta. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It is a warm house in the winter, and cool in the summer. The outside of our house is grey and white stucco. We have a Japanese plum tree in our front yard, and my mom has a vegetable garden in the backyard.
In our house, lives my Mom, Dad, brother Ryder, our dog Eddie, and our cats, Tinsel and Taco. We have lived in this house for ten years, and we love it. Before we lived here we lived in a smaller house in Saskatchewan.
I consider us to be very lucky that we have a safe place to call home. I know that a lot of people don’t get to have that, and that is why Habitat for Humanity is so important. I love that Habitat for Humanity can give other people the same security that we feel having a safe place to live.
