The True Meaning of Home

Different people all have different ideas of what home means. To me, the true meaning of home is a safe place to be. A home is also the things that happen inside it. Another meaning of home is the sights, sounds, and scents that are inside it. That is what home means to me. Home is a safe place to be. At home, you can share your thoughts and opinions free of judgement. A home is full of people you can trust to be constantly supportive of you. People who are supportive of me are my mom, dad, brother, and sister. Their support makes me feel like I can do anything, as long as they’re supporting me. I feel safe at home. A home is the things that happen inside it. I often play video games against my five-year-old younger brother. Playing against him is fun, even if it’s not very challenging. At night, my family and I often play Gin Rummy against my mom, sister, or dad. We also like playing board games, like Oops! or Crokinole with each other, which makes me feel both connected and competitive. Home is about feeling like you belong. Home is also the sights, sounds, and scents inside it. At home, I see my siblings playing together, my mom baking, and whatever I’m doing right now, such as building a Lego, playing with farm toys, reading, or playing video games. I also see the pictures on the walls, which bring back memories, the Lego I’ve built recently, or the furniture around me. These things make me feel thankful for all the great things my family gets. I often hear the smoke alarm going off like a wake-up alarm, calling me back to reality. That’s what home means to me.
