What Home Means to Me

Home means everything to me. It is the one place where I can be myself without fear or worry. I am thankful for my home because it gives me shelter, safety, and warmth every day. When it rains, snows, or gets too hot outside, I know I have a cozy place to come back to. That feeling makes me feel calm and protected. Not everyone has a safe home and thinking about that helps me appreciate what I have even more. Many families and children around the world don’t have proper shelter. They must live through cold winters, hot summers, and heavy rain without protection. Living this way can be scary and very hard. When I think about their struggles, I realize how important a home truly is. A home is not just walls and a roof. It’s a place that gives protection, stability, and peace. It helps people feel like they belong and gives them hope for a better future. Home is a place where special memories are made. It doesn’t matter if a house is big or small, what matters is the love inside. My home is filled with laughter, learning, and happy moments with my family. These memories help shape who I am. At home, I feel relaxed and free to be myself. It is a place where I can grow, dream, and feel supported. I am grateful for the BMO community. My dad once helped build drywall for a Habitat for Humanity home in Waterloo, Canada. That experience taught my family how meaningful it is to help others find shelter. It strengthened my belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home, filled with love, comfort, and happiness. A home truly changes lives in powerful ways every day.
