What Home Means to Me
A house is just a building. It is made of bricks, wood, glass and metal. But a home is a place where your people are. That can be a mom, a dad, pets, brothers, sisters, grandparents, or some of all of these. A house is a structure. A home has feelings.
Your home is where you can spend time with your family and bring your friends to visit. It is where you celebrate traditions and make memories. Home is where I can build puzzles with my mom, shoot pucks in the basement with my dad and hit golf balls outside with my brother. It’s where I can throw huck-a-chuck balls for my dogs and cuddle with my kitty.
A house is protection. It’s somewhere you can go inside to stay dry and warm. It’s a place to sleep. A home gives you peace and makes you feel safe when you go to bed at night. Home is meals with my family, saying grace at the table. It’s Friday night family movie nights when we blow up the air bed. Mom and I make delicious popcorn in the air popper with real butter. (I am the salt master).
A home is a place where you feel loved, where you feel cozy, where you feel protected, and where you feel happy. It is where you feel at peace and it is a place that brings back memories. Home to me is where I feel safe and where I can laugh and cry. Home is my family!
