What Home Means To Me
Home is much more than just a building with walls and a roof to me. Home is the feeling of a long, deep breath when you finally walk through the door after a hard day.
It is the one place in the whole world where the noise of the outside disappears and everything finally feels quiet and safe. When I am home, I don’t have to pretend to be someone else or act a certain way. I can just be myself. It is like a giant hug that stays with me as long as I am inside.
Home is made of a thousand tiny details that only I know such as, the sound the floor makes when I walk towards the kitchen, and the way the light looks when the sun starts to go down. I know the shape of every room and where every object lives, even in the dark, I can find my way around because I have a map of this place inside my heart.
It is the smell of the food we cook together and the warmth of my favorite blanket that is always sitting on the couch waiting for me. These things might seem small to a stranger, but to me, they are the things that make me truly happy. Home is also my mini base or my headquarters. It is the place where I go to get my energy back, so I can go out into the world again tomorrow.
When the world feels too busy or too stressful, I know that my home is a sanctuary that will never change. It is a place that protects me, and keeps me warm. It holds all my favorite things, my best memories, and the people I love the most.
No matter how far I travel or where I go in the future, the feeling of this home will always stay with me because it is the foundation of who I am. It is the only spot on earth where I am always welcome, always safe, and always loved exactly as I am. I love home so much.
