Home
Home is the quiet sanctuary where the outside world fades away, replaced by the same faces that will always love you. A home is more than walls but if they could talk laughter would echo and memories would spread. Even the smallest moments - a shared meal, a rainy afternoon, or a long conversation- they all become the foundation of a life that keeps on giving. Your home is the witness to your growth and the keeper of your secrets. It is the one place where you don't have to be anything other than exactly who you are, and nothing can stop you, not emotion or the rest of the world !
When you think about home it should only bring memories that make you smile, smirk, and laugh. In my home, we could share a million stories, and I probably look like a dog rolling on the floor every time. When my parents told me my brother went into the garage while the floors were freshly painted, I screamed and smirked. Then it got even better. He left size 1 footprints on the driveway. My dog barked so loud when I laughed I couldn't hear anyone for the rest of the day! Even though the silence felt like forever , it still felt like home because I was sharing it with my parents and my insane brother.
When you are within the walls of your own home, you should feel ready to scream when you’re mad, cry when you’re sad, and laugh loudly when you’re happy, because every single emotion you feel deserves to matter. Whenever I am somewhere safe and secure, I definitely make it a point to do all of those things; I am not scared to express them because I have my family members right there to comfort me, listen to my heart, and help me navigate through even the hardest times. In that space, my feelings aren't just noise—they are understood.
There is no better feeling in the world than my family’s laughter. They always laugh the hardest when I finally emerge at 3:00 PM after a marathon of reading; they’ll giggle and say, "Good morning!" even though they’re already busy making dinner. When they ask how my book is—knowing we'll be stuck listening to the plot for ages—I can’t help but smile from ear to ear. Eventually, we all squish onto the couch together, a tangled mess of worn-out throw blankets. It’s our unwritten rule: no matter how much they tease me for losing track of time, there is always a spot saved in the middle. As the story twists and turns, the house fills with the scent of a meal nearly finished and the comfortable, rhythmic thumping of the dog’s tail against the cushions. In these moments, the boundary between my fictional worlds and my real one starts to blur, and I realize that as much as I love the characters in my books, nothing compares to the people sitting right next to me.
Ultimately, home is a sanctuary, offering refuge from external pressures and providing unconditional love among family. A home wall bears witness to shared laughter, quiet moments, and growth. These everyday experiences—meals, conversations, rainy afternoons—are essential for a fulfilling life. Above all, home is a deeply personal space where you're free from judgment and the demands of the world.
