What Home Means to Me

Home can be anything: a house, apartment, condo, a tent, even your school, and so much more. It’s a place where you feel safe. And to me my home is everything. To me home is family, late movie nights in the den. No lights, blinds down, just one lamp on. Home is coming back from soccer or basketball, and being greeted by a cute little fluffy dog named Margaux. Wagging her tail and going into downward dog, wiggling literally EVERYTHING. Home is snuggling with my mom and Margaux by the crackling fire. It is cozying up in bed after a warm shower and tucking the blanket up to my chin. Home is the delicious smell of my parents cooking food in the kitchen. It is a walk at Point Pleasant Park in the morning with my family and Margaux, and going to Uncommon Grounds shortly afterwards. Home is playing Lego in the basement with my sister and the noise of the Lego swishing back and forth in the bin. It is warm showers, the water hitting my skin. Home is the paths at the back of each house connecting us all. And most of all home is where I feel safe, loved, comforted, and nothing could erase those amazing memories. I would like to thank Habitat for Humanity for building homes so people can feel this about their own homes too.
