A Home Isn't Just A House

A house has walls of wood and paint, They stand there still, and will not change. A home has walls that hear our days, Our laughs, our cries, our many ways. A house has floors that shine and glow, Clean and quiet, neat and so. A home has floors with steps and sound, With running feet that race around. The rooms of a house are empty and bare, No voices, no sounds anywhere. The rooms of a home hold dreams and cheer, Where stories, toys, and love live here. A house has a roof up high above, It blocks the rain, and gives no love. A home has a roof that keeps us tight, Safe through storms and every night. A house has a yard of dirt and grass, Where days are still and moments pass. A home has a yard where kids all play, Laughing loudly till the end of day. A house is quiet, still and cold, With empty rooms and with stories untold A home is messy, loud, and true, With family, pets, and love all through.
