A Home is What you Make It

When I came home from school and saw the for sale sign on the front lawn, I couldn’t help but feel sad. I didn’t like the thought of moving away from the place I grew up in. This was my home. My safe space. A place full of love, laughter and all of my happiest memories. After some time had passed, it made me think, what is a home? In my home, I have a loving, supportive family. My home is the place where I feel comfortable, safe and secure, and I can be myself. In my home, I have many rooms. I have a cozy room of my own where I play games, laze around, and get a good night's sleep. In my living room, we have TV and movie nights where we sit together, eat delicious snacks, and sit back and watch a show. My kitchen is where we make the greatest meals, have family dinners, and talk about our days. In my dining room, I celebrate many holidays and traditions and have great big feasts with my aunt, uncle, my grandparents, my parents, and my sister. In my basement, I can practice the game I love, hockey! I run around and play, and take care of my fish. In my backyard I go on swings, swim in my pool, and go in my hot tub. The walls are filled with pictures of old memories and the shelves filled with items that are valuable to myself and my family. I love my home and all the memories we have made here. When it is time to move, I will miss it, but I now know that a house is just a structure, a home is what you make it.
