What Home Means To Me

When I think of "home," I don't just picture walls and furniture. To me, home is a feeling—a space filled with love, comfort, and the people who matter most. It is where I can be myself and receive unconditional love from my family. For as long as I can remember, my parents have been the heart of our home. My father works tirelessly to support us, always calling me the princess of the house. My mother puts her whole heart into making our home warm and beautiful. When we first arrived in Canada, things were different. We lived in a rental apartment where I didn’t have my own room. I dreamed of a personal space to decorate and make truly mine. I prayed my father could buy a house, and in 2022, that dream came true. It was one of our family’s happiest moments—a new beginning that showed how far we had come. I am one of four siblings, and our house is filled with noise and laughter. My elder brother and I do nearly everything together. We argue often, but we also study together, share jokes, and look out for each other. Even when we fight, I know he cares for me deeply. Home is not just a physical place; it is warmth in my mother's voice and strength in my father's hard work. It means having a place where you belong, where you are loved, and where every corner holds a piece of your story.
