A Home Is More Than A House

A home is more than a house. A house is simply some walls and a roof, devoid of all feeling. Before you make it a home, it’s simply a building; the walls hold no pictures that contain frozen images of a time long gone, there are no stains or scratches in the kitchen from hilarious mishaps that you will remember till the day you die and beyond, there are no stuffies lying around the toy room and on the couch from years past. These and more are the things that make a house a home. If you are in a home and not just a house, when you go upstairs you will see messy beds with blankets everywhere, toys and books covering the floor and belongings scattered on desks, under beds and everywhere else. In the basement, you might see Legos piled haphazardly, or towering stacks of books, seemingly reaching for the sky. At dinnertime, you should be able to smell the most amazing smells coming from the kitchen, followed by some of the most incredible meals you’ll ever have. Looking on the outside, a home is the strongest shield you will ever have, one that can withstand blow after blow from every cruel thing or harsh word the world will ever throw at you. After a hard day at school or anywhere else, you can rest assured in the knowledge that your home will protect you no matter what. The world is a huge place, with all its ups and downs, but if you have a home, you’ll always have somewhere to go back to at the end of the day. This is what a home is: A wonderful place filled with love and happiness and laughter forevermore.
