The Meaning of Home

When I think of the word home I don’t just think of four walls and a roof, that’s just a house but I’m about to tell you all the reasons why a home and a house are very different things. A house is just a structure made of bricks that will protect you from bad weather. home is a place where your family is. The thing about family is that they’re not just people who are related to you, they're people who care for you and support you through everything. Some special things that you feel when you walk in your home is when you smell your mom’s freshly baked cookies. When you get back home from work or from school it’s nice to see your family pictures on the wall and know that you are loved by a whole group of people. The thing about homes is that if you just watched a scary movie and think that you might not be safe then you can look around you and know that you have a whole family who will protect you. When I walk in the door I usually sit on the couch and watch TV, when I hear my brother get mad while he is gaming. I don’t get super mad because I think it’s better to have a family that gets mad over a game than to not have a family at all. The nice thing about having a home is that you can let people into it to make fond memories with your friends and your family. You may have some memories in a house, but I bet that you will have even better memories in your home with the people you love. My favourite part of my home is the living room because that is where I spend most of my time with my family watching movies and playing games. For me, my home probably wouldn’t be a home without my family. Thank you Habitat for humanity for giving me this opportunity to share how grateful I am to have a home and a family
