My Meaning of Home
To me, home is much more than just a building made of wood and bricks; it is the place where I feel the safest and happiest. It is the first place I want to be when I finish school or when I’ve had a long day. Home is the smell of my favorite dinner cooking in the oven, like cheesy lasagna or tacos, and the sound of my family talking and laughing in the kitchen.
Home is where my family lives, and they are the ones who make it special. It is the place where my parents tuck me in at night and where I read until I fall asleep. . We have a big comfy couch that can also convert into a bed. Every Saturday, when we all squeeze together to watch movies on Friday nights with a giant bowl of popcorn, I feel like I belong. It feels different than if I watched a movie at the theater. I also love the traditions that happen inside our house. Every month, I measure my height against the sliding closer door to see how many inches I’ve grown. During the holidays, home feels extra cozy because we put up lights and decorations that make everything glow. My home is full of my favorite things, like my softest pillows, my collection of gemstones that I got for my birthday, and the reminders I’ve taped to the fridge.
When I am away at camp or staying over at a friend’s house, I always start to miss my own bed and the way my house smells. There is no better feeling than pulling into the parking lot basement and knowing I am back where I belong. To me, home means love, comfort, and the people who care about me most. It is my favorite place in the whole world.
