True Meaning of Home

What is home? What does it mean? Is it a place to shelter in? I used to think home was a place with four walls, a roof, a door, and essentials. Now I realize the true meaning of home, and it's quite different from what I first thought. My home may be small, may be big- but none of that matters. What truly matters is how we feel at home. The living room is where we have our family bonding time- movie nights, dinners, and enjoying each other's company. The kitchen belongs to the smell of my mother's cooking, she puts in so much effort into making the food healthy and taste just right, so I can grow strong and healthy. When you walk up the stairs, you can see beautiful photos of our family memories- baby pictures, places we visited, and moments of me growing up in our home. Those moments may be small, but they're moments I cherish with my loving family. Finally, there is my room. In my room, my dad and I play video games, and I can show my mom new songs I learned on the ukulele or keyboard. Even if it's not perfect, they still love me and are proud of me. Home is not only about what we do or what we have; it is also about who we have at home as well- my two loving parents. The true meaning of home? Is that home is a place out of this world filled with love, kindness, warmth, comfort, and memories. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for making homes possible. Everyone deserves a home with love and to be loved in.
