What Home Means To Me

Six years ago, I moved to another country with my parents. I was only three years old. I did not understand why everything had changed. I missed my old home so much, and the life I knew before. Soon after moving, I became sick for almost two weeks. Doctors could not find a clear reason. Now I understand that my sickness came from feeling lost and confused in a new place. As I grew older, I began to understand the meaning of home in a different way. Home is not just a house or a country. Home is the feeling of safety and peace inside you, even when everything around you changes. I learned that a person can leave a place, but the feeling of home can stay with them. The Qur’an helped me understand this. Allah says: “And He is with you wherever you are.” (Surah Al-Hadid, 57:4) This verse gives me comfort. It reminds me that even when I move to a new place, I am not alone. Even when I feel afraid or unsure, Allah is still with me. This helped me feel calm and strong during change. It helped me understand that I do not lose everything just because I leave a place behind. Because of this verse, I now believe that home is not only where I live. Home is the peace I feel when I know that Allah is always near. When I remember this, I feel safe enough to grow, to dream, and to move forward without fear. Home, for me, is not a building. Home is knowing that wherever I go, I am never alone. This belief healed the lost child in me, reminding me that when places change, and words fail, Allah remains near, turning uncertainty into peace and loneliness into home.
