Home: A Place Where I Belong
Home, a place where I belong. A place where I see young children playing and scootering around on the asphalt of my safe neighbourhood on hot summer days, as we splash around in the pool after our sunscreen sets.
Home, a place where I hear giggling coming from my cousins, sister, friends, and I as we stay up late sharing funny stories and secrets.
Home, a place where I taste the sticky Canadian maple syrup as it drips down my shirt from the freshly baked pancakes, fluffy as clouds.
Home, a place where I smell my loving grandmas cooking, smiling, as she welcomes me in on cozy Wednesday evenings before we sit and share the delightful memories that light up my day.
Home, a place where I feel safe to talk and laugh with my family on the crisp, cool Thanksgiving nights, running around as the breeze brushes my face and the sound of crunching leaves and laughter echo in the fall night.
Home, a place where I feel welcome as the stage lights glimmer and gleam on my face while I dance, and then I see my family smiling in the crowd, my mom almost tearing up, and my dad feeling proud.
Home, a place that everyone deserves. A place that you feel not only protected but also make everlasting memories. My hope is that Habitat for Humanity can make this dream for thousands come true.
