What Home Means to Me

Home means a place to love, enjoy and spend time with your family. When I get home from school, I feel the warmth of my parents when they hug me and ask how my day was. I know I feel loved when I’m at home. When I wake up in the morning, I smell the food that my dad has prepared for me. When I get ready for school, I see my mother working hard to do the laundry so that we have clothes to wear. When I go to sleep, I touch the bed that I’ve owned and slept on for years. At night I see my dad leaving to go to work to make money and put food on our table. During the weekend I smell my parents’ cooking recipes from our home country for us to eat. Every Friday night I see my grandma coming home from work and somehow she always manages to bring my parents and I some gifts. At dinner I hear my parents having a conversation about how their day was. Sometimes, I play board games with my dad and I feel happy and joyful because we spent some time together. Even if I’m nowhere close to my house or if I’m at another person’s house it won’t matter because home isn’t a building, it’s the people I’m with.
