The Meaning of Home

Home can mean plenty of things to many different people. To me, a home means having love, making memories, being believed in and feeling safe. Home also makes me feel happy, respected, free, fun, and I can be myself. First of all, a home makes me feel loved and safe because I have nothing to worry about, and my family is always there when I need them, such as: when I hurt myself, they are always there to help me get back up, or how our house protects us from the weather. Second, home is the place where we make memories, such as: me and my family playing a fun board game, hanging out in my parents’ bed, or at Christmas, all working together to decorate the house and baking cookies together. Third, at my home I am believed in. If I had a rough day at school and I didn’t understand my work, my parents would always help me catch up. Also, home makes me feel happy because my mind is clear, I can relax, and we all feel safe, respected, loved and secure. Next, a home is never perfect. Most homes are messy, which shows that somebody has lived in it. As well, a home is the place where I can be free. I can relax and my mind is free to wonder. Sometimes, I wonder about what my future is like, and where it will take me. Also, a home is fun, because we are all hanging out together. Finally, at home I feel respected. I can make choices and nobody is judging me about how I act, what I look like, or the things I am good at or not . Home feels like more than a building, it is a fun, happy, memory making place.
