What Home Means to Me

Home isn't just a place to live. Its not furniture, toys or a building. Home is a feeling, it’s warmth, memories and family. When I am huddling by the fire, watching movies or drinking hot chocolate with my family, it makes me feel warm. Snuggled closely with my family, I’m surrounded with love and a sense of security. Home to me is the warmth that I feel with those that I love around me. My home is memories, types of memories to remember. It’s all the days we spent together like how we would have some good days, some bad and when they were always there to cheer you up and if its family game night, we would all gather around the fire playing board games while eating popcorn, chips and candy. All of these memories I could never ever forget. My family makes my home a home. Without my Mom, I wouldn't be here, have great korean meals at the table or cozy snuggles by the fire while watching movies. Without my Dad were would all my laughs go? I wouldn't be playing basketball with my favorite coach, or love his delicious homemade lasagna and spaghetti. Without my only, and favorite, sister Maya, I wouldn't have a best friend as a sister or have one extra gift by the fire place on Christmas day. I would feel empty if she was never here. My family is perfect for me and my home is my family. I wrote this for Habitat for Humanity and hope that they get enough money for those in need of shelter so that those families can also know what home means to them.
