What Home Means To Me

Home is a special place that makes me feel safe, loved, and truly happy. To me, home is not just the four walls that surround me or the roof over my head. It is much more than that. Home is the warmth, love, and happiness that live inside those walls. It is the place where I feel protected no matter what happens outside. When the world feels loud, busy, or overwhelming, home is where I can slow down and breathe. Every day, when I walk through the front door, I am welcomed by familiar sights, sounds, and smells that immediately make me feel happy. One of my favourite parts of coming home is the smell of the delicious food my mom is cooking. That smell fills the house and fills my heart with happiness. It reminds me that I am cared for and that someone is always looking out for me. Even after a long day, that moment can make everything feel better. In my home, I have a room that feels like my own little world. It is filled with books, memories, and things that I love. My room is where I can relax and let my imagination run free. Sometimes I sit on my bed and write small stories about adventures, magical lands, and fairy tales. In those moments, I feel creative and free. My home gives me the space and comfort to dream big and believe in myself. My family is the most important part of my home. They are what truly make it complete. Without them, a house would just be an empty space. With them, it becomes a home full of laughter, love, and joy. We spend time together playing games, watching movies, and talking about our days, especially on the weekends. These moments may seem small, but they are very special to me. They help create memories that are very meaningful. Home is also the place where I can be myself without worry. I can share my thoughts, feelings, and ideas freely, knowing that I will be understood and accepted. I don’t have to pretend to be someone else. At home, I am enough just the way I am. That feeling gives me confidence and strength to face the world outside. Home is something that not everyone has, so I always feel like I am really lucky. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping make our world a better place, one home at a time. -Tashvi Diwakar
