Meaning of Home
My home isn’t a place with four walls and a ceiling. My home is a place where I can be myself and not judged for who I am. Home is with my family and friends. When I was three, I moved from Russia to Canada, so I never got to know my culture. I’m also from Kenya and I’ve only visited once when I was one year old. But last year, I finally visited Kenya. The moment I was in the presence of my relatives, I felt at home. I could show them the real me and know I wouldn’t be judged. But, home isn’t only with family, home is also with friends. I have lots of real friends, but only a few know the real me. As an athlete, playing soccer feels like home to me. Being on the pitch, getting goals, celebrating with my team. It feels like I belong there and nothing can ever take it away from me. Pets can also make you feel like you’re at home. They’re like a friend that’s always there for you when you need it. For some people, food can also make you feel at home. The feeling of getting a nice meal after a long day. My home contains my childhood and all the memories I’ve ever made.
