Haruki Finds a Home

There was a little girl named Haruki who was about eight or nine. She didn't really get the meaning of love or even a home. She lived in an orphanage for most of her life. It was pretty nice, it had a fancy TV and a big yard to play in. But Haruki didn't want that. She wanted a home. Even though she didn't fully know what it was, it didn't mean she didn't want it at all. She saw all of the other kids get adopted, and she wanted that too. Haruki was in the orphanage for as long she could remember. She saw her friends come and go while she stayed behind. But one day two people walked in. Two girls named Najia and Zoey. Haruki prayed and prayed, hoping they would adopt her, and they did! It was the happiest day of her life. She finally knew what it was like to have a home, not a house. Not only that, she even convinced her mothers to adopt another kid from the same orphanage. Her name was Fayola, their lucky charm. Haruki was a big sister now. So dear reader, here are Haruki's words to you: “The meaning of a home is not the fancy furniture, nor the beautiful jewelry. It's your family and being loved by the ones around you, and loving others.” Everyone deserves a home. . . . Name meanings: Haruki: Spring; Beginning of a new life. Naija: Protector; savior. Zoey: Life. Fayola: Lucky, new fortune.
