What is the Meaning of Home to Me

The meaning of home to me is not just a house, it is a place where I feel comfortable and happy. I know I will be welcomed home with love and care. I see my lovely mom and my amazing brother. On Saturdays my brother bakes sugar cookies which I love. On special days we have A&W which makes home feel like Heaven. If I eat it in someone else’s house it doesn't feel like home. I enjoy it more at my home. On Sundays, my mom makes Puff Puff. It is something I used to eat in Nigeria. My dad comes over to spend some weeks, OMG he snores! So that makes me feel like home. I feel at home because when I came to Canada from Nigeria, this was my first home. I have lived in my apartment my whole life in Canada. I see my friends playing downstairs around my home. I don’t know why I left Nigeria; it looked good to me. I guess my mom wanted a better education for me and my brother. The journey was long. First, I drove to a city in Nigeria called Lagos. I have an aunty that lives there. She drove us to the airport then my uncle came to pick me my mom and brother up from the airport in Canada. When I first arrived, it didn’t really feel like home, but after some time spent with family it started feeling like home because I was surrounded by love.
