What Home Means to Me
Hi, I am a grade 6 student, and this is what Home Means to me. There is a significant difference between a house and a home. A house is a place where you (and sometimes others) live, sleep and/or eat in. But a home is a place where you feel loved, comfortable, and safe in. Which are all things that I am writing about.
Now, when you think about your average home most people would think about a place where you feel loved. A simple act of love can instantly brighten a person’s mood or day. It costs nothing to be a kind and loving human being. Another reason love is an important part of a household is because you truly never know what people are going through. Which is why it is important to show love and kindness to others. Think about the last time someone did something extremely kind for you out of the goodness of their heart and think about how it made you feel. If there is no love in a place where you call home, is it really a home?
The second thing I believe that turns a house into a home is comfort. It is important to be comfortable in your home because your home should be a place where you can relax and redwing. Feeling comfortable in your home creates a space where you can be and express yourself. I am personally comfortable and at home when I feel safe and protected.
The last (and extremely important), thing that makes me feel at home, is safety. To me, safety means feeling safe, protected, and accepted by my family and friends. Whether it is feeling safe around your friends and family or feeling safe in your home environment, feeling safe in your house, all safety is important. When I feel safe, I feel loved and when I feel loved, I feel comfortable. Which I believe everyone should feel about their home.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are left without homes in Canada due to the housing crisis. Which is why I be submitted this essay to help people around Canada get the help they deserve.
