What home means to me

Home to me means my house with my comfy bed filled with my 20 stuffies. Home to me means the smell of good food that my parents worked hard making. Home to me means my brother and I playing Lego together or practicing our instruments together. But that's not all, those are only perspectives of others when they come to my house, There is a whole lot of history before that. Back when I was 4, I came here from Hong Kong, I was scared. I didn’t know English, I didn't like the food and I was scared to go to school. When I first walked into my new house, my grandparents welcomed me and gave me my favourite dish, fish fillet with creamed corn rice. That made me really happy and I instantly filled up with joy, I started to understand English and made more friends at school. Sometimes, home isn't about the place or where you're at, it's about who you were with this whole journey through. I think of home now as my family, friends and those who helped me along the way. That's what home means to me.
