Home vs. House

If you go and ask a homeless child what a home means to them they will not know how to respond, a home is a privilege you take for granted, you don't know what a home is until your teacher says “what does a home mean to you.” Home? What is a home? People just say it's a place where you live but that's a house so what is a home? It is a house but with value and memories. It's where I roast marshmallows with my dad, made dinner with my mom where we set off fireworks with my family. We don't notice all the small things like that until your teacher says “what does a home mean to you.” I decorate my room constantly until it feels like I belong here like… me. I sway open my door so my dog comes running up to me. I hug her and give her a kiss. I come home from school and I smell cinnamon buns with a strong scent of cinnamon. I see my Mom. What's the question she always asks: how was your day? I used to say awesome, but now I just say boring. In the summer we go camping in a huge evergreen forest where the animals fall asleep with no harm. We go to the beach where the hot sand lays. It's always super fun, super exciting but nothing beats my home where I lay with no harm.
