HOME
Home is a place to laugh and play. Today I will tell you what home means to me.
Home is just not a place to sleep but a place to feel like you can be you.
When I walk in the front door after school I sometimes smell something amazing. I walk into the kitchen and see my mom baking. It doesn't matter what it is, it always smells amazing.
Home is a place to feel like myself.
Home is a place to feel safe.
The kitchen is a place to laugh, smell amazing food.
Home is not just four corners, it's a place to love and be warm.
Drop the mask you may put up for people and just be yourself.
Even though I may have chores, when the task is done it feels nice to be in a clean comfortable home.
My friends and family can feel like home too as long as you feel safe and comfortable. Anything can feel like home!
Time tends to flow when I have fun.
The roses outside smell wonderful and the garden has amazing food.
Again, don't ask about the mask or question it - just do what feels good.
When I'm home I feel I can be myself.
You can decorate your room to feel more like you but make sure not to forget the ones that you love.
A house is built with bricks and boulders but home is not just that. It's also not a room with 4 corners and it may be a place to sleep but to me it sounds like a big deal.
Thank you Habitat for Humanity for letting us write these poems to you.
