Memorized By Heart

For me, home will always mean PEI. I lived in PEI for 4 years and sunshine and friendship danced across the land. I remember all the beauty of the beaches. I remember the red sand slowly covering my feet more and more the farther I got to the water. I remember the sun shining on my face as I felt drops of water on my toes, and I could hear a whooshing of the waves going up and down. I remember all the beautiful seashells and rocks, all unique in their own way, like a rainbow. I remember, when I got the news that I was going to move to Nova Scotia. I felt the warm bright sunshine turn into a dark tornado of sadness. I said, "What about all my friends?" they make me feel at home like I'm drinking a warm cup of hot chocolate by the fireplace wrapped in a warm fluffy blanket. But we had to because my parents found a job there. Once I settled into my new home everything looked different, like a new sunset. I'm used to living on an island, but this is much bigger. Over time, I went to a new school, VVA, and I made a lot of friends there that made the bright sun shine again. Now, when I go to visit PEI, it makes me feel thrilled like I'm going to relive my past memories. I feel a big wave of excitement hit me every time. I never forgot about a single person in PEI. Sometimes I feel like I memorized PEI by heart even all its ups, and downs. That's what home means to me.
