This is Home

Why do people think of a “house” when I say “home?” A house is a box. It can’t move, But a home moves with your heart. Home is the smell of Grandma’s cooking. Home is the smell of Dad’s BBQ, Home is the smell of mom’s fresh bread. Home is my family and friends, cats, dogs and bunnies. Home looks like Love, Joy, Happiness and Dreams. Home looks like the BEST thing in the world. Home feels like my soft bed. Hugs from mom, And the soft fur from my bunny and cat. Home is my culture, Salvadoran and Canadian. I can hear the music playing when I'm cleaning. And the podcasts before I go to bed. Home tastes like candy and birthday cake. The pool water that you accidentally drink. The homemade food that fills you up. Home is where you feel heard and safe. The music plays in the background, while helping my parents with chores. Home is me.
