Home

Home is where I can smell my mom’s homemade chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. Home is where memories are kept. Home is where people argue, agree, and love each other. What does home mean to you? Home to me means people talk, sing, dance, and play together! When I walk in the door from school, I fling off my backpack on the ground and I give my mom and dad a BIG HUGE hug! I am always happy when I am in my home with my family. To me my home is my favourite place because the people who are in there that I can talk to. My home always feels happy because someone who lives in there is always happy… my dog Lenni. No matter what she is always happy. On Christmas night, my family has a tradition to have tourtiere pie for dinner. My dad makes it! I love tourtiere pie because the smell brings me comfort and joy. Traditions are a part of having a home. Traditions are what makes a home a home. Home carries love and joy when you do your favourite things in your home. My favourite things to do in my home are to hang out with my family, draw peacefully, and bake with my mom! My mom and I bake a lot of special treats. We bake cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and pies! When I smell, our baking it makes me feel safe and brings me happiness. In my home it feels warm, cozy, and safe. A special memory that I have is when I was two and at my cottage, I would put on an Elsa dress and start to sing “LET IT GO! LET IT GO!” My cottage is my second home. I feel the same way I do toward my cottage as I do my home. We should all be thankful for the home that we have because not everyone has one! Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for helping people to find a safe home to make memories. By Willa
