More Than a Shelter
Home. It’s a word that can have many different meanings, but no matter what it is, it’s always something incredibly important. To me, a home is much more than a house. It’s somewhere you feel safe, you know that you belong, and you’re comfortable where you are.
I remember earlier in life when I had some of my best and most supportive friends part ways with me, and when I returned to school, it felt like a huge part of my home had been crushed. That moment was when I realized that a home could be anything and anywhere.
As well as that, I think it is possible to feel at home in more than one place. When I was young, I would visit my local library very frequently, and the staff there were astonishingly kind. On top of that, they had entertaining activities all the time and had a massive selection of other things to do, making it an amazing place to be, and I think if there was no library, I would have an extensive part of my life taken away from me.
Some people adore staying at luxurious places, like hotels and resorts, but even though they are extremely pleasing and relaxing, it’s never the same as my home, to me. I’ve visited many different places over the years, stopping at places to stay, but it has never been the same as home, and as fun as it is to be there, it’s always awesome to get back home.
Different people may think of home in a different way than me, but something I know we all have in common is that our home is more than just a house and that it wasn’t built by hands, it was created by hearts.
