Home

Home is my family's summer cottage Where the dirt road leads to the crashing waves on the beach The old treehouse still stands tall, the grass is green and long Where the rocks on the beach lead to the warm water. The breeze blows smoothly through the air Home is where the fire is lit at sunset to roast marshmallows The sea glass is as bright and shiny as the sun glistening on the water Our cottage is as blue as the lake The fairy lights surrounding the neighbours shine and twinkle on the water My home is where the beach goes on for what seems like forever Where the sunsets are like a fire in the sky, home has fresh air to breathe in We could play sports all day in the glimmering hot sun Home is where I fall asleep to the waves crashing on the shore Where we drive down the dirt roads to fish with the neighbours We unpack as fast as we can to get that first glimpse of the beach And the perfectly placed rocks form a staircase Where we chase my dog through the fields That is home
