Home is where the heart is

You might think your house is your home – where you live, where you sleep. However, I'm here to say that home is not just your house, not at all. To me, home is where the heart is; it's where you hang your hat when the day is done, where your loved ones are, and where you can feel safe. Sadly, some people don’t have a home. To be exact, 235,000 people don’t have a home in Canada, and the numbers are increasing daily. I feel deeply for those who don’t have a home to go to when the day is over. They lack that feeling of security at night and of love, hope, and warmth that I experience. Most people don’t realize how lucky they are to have a home. They believe they're just like everybody else and don’t realize that living in a home is a privilege. I would be so sad, upset, and probably very lonely if I didn't have a home. I am incredibly grateful to have a home, thankful for my family, and appreciative of my house. So, I am writing this story in the hope that it helps those people without a home find one. So they, too, can have a home where the heart is.
