The meaning of home

A home is a shelter for people to hide from storms and bad weather. It is a place to eat, have fun, and sometimes express emotions, whether it is good or bad. Photos of smiles and loved ones line the wall, while more await to be experienced. Home smells like the aroma of fabulous cooking by my parents. It’s where I enjoy helping and talking to my family. Home is where we fill the walls with red to scare away Nian, and to celebrate our endless victories against him. My home is not just a place with four walls and a roof, but a place with family and memories that will never fade. A home is where you feel safe, loved, warm, and welcome. It provides support to feel cozy, comfortable, and happy. A home is not a house or where you live, but it’s where you belong. It’s a place where you are supposed to be, regardless of what happens. Home is a feeling of pure love, joy, and care. Home may not be a place, but a mixture of feelings. It makes us feel we belong there. Without my home, I wouldn't be able to thrive. Despite what my home is, an apartment, a condo, or a townhouse, I will always look at it with great pride to think of all the awesome memories we’ll make together. Lastly, I would like to thank the absolutely wonderful Habitat for Humanity for giving these generous homes for people all over Canada.
