The Meaning of Home
The meaning of home to me is safety and my surroundings. When I arrive home, I see my cat and my family. They keep me happy, alive and filled with joy. When I’m home, I know I’m surrounded by people I love which makes me feel safe inside.
Our family plays board games, on the Nintendo, crosswords and more to make me happy. It feels like a tradition to me, it’s something we do every few often. One of the things I love to do with my family is to spend time with them, whatever we do. We may get mad, disappointed and upset with each other, but then we’ll make up with each other and become better again. Luckily, my brother and I stopped fighting more recently, which I’m proud of.
My home is warm in the winter and cool in the summer luckily because of an A.C we have. I’m grateful for having one and I love the feeling of lying on my bed and watching videos on my phone. Even though my apartment is warm during winter, I love it when I have a blanket to keep me warm. It makes me feel warm inside and outside, making me feel safe. The feeling of laying on something comfy as a bed or couch, makes me very comfortable.
If I ever need to get something off my chest or if I need to tell someone something, I know to tell my parents or sibling. They won’t help much with the situation but I know they’ll make me feel less worried about it or they’d help me with it. My parents would either fix the problem or give me any advice, and my brother would probably talk to me about it, or just ignore me. Of course this won’t help me much but talking to a pet could help anyone to fix a problem. I’m sure talking with my cat would help me stay calm, even though he can’t speak back. Just telling someone or something is good enough to get something off your chest.
The new apartment I moved to in September doesn’t count as a memory to me but the rental house I lived in for 4 years was definitely one of the biggest memories I have. So much has happened in there, play dates, sleepovers, floods, and so much more. I remember sitting on my black, comfy sofa, watching T.V. Talking with my brother on the bed, baking delicious sweets such as biscuits, cake, cupcakes and brownies. Hiding in closets, under blankets and tables. Standing on the sofa and jumping up and down on beds and on the sofa. When I get older, I hope I’ll still remember this house.
Whatever surrounds me in my home, it makes me feel safe, loved and happy to have a great place to live and have. Whenever I have a problem, my family will help me with it and give me the advice I’ll need.
