Home: From Streets to Stars

I have lived in many homes. I’ve been from the vibrant and lively streets of Kolkata to the snowy landscapes of Switzerland, and the busy streets of downtown Toronto, where I went to school and made lifelong friendships. When I moved to Canada, I got to experience how amazing and welcoming the country is. All of those homes, despite their differences, have so much in common; they are where I can be myself, and know that there are people who will trust and support me unconditionally. Home is far beyond just a place. Try to close your eyes, and picture your home. I can see it. It’s not just walls and a ceiling. It’s like a gallery, and it holds a million unforgettable memories. They’re special moments that you couldn’t ever forget. Home is where I wake up greeted by safety and comfort every morning. There’s a wet lick from my dog, who in his own way finds a similar sense of home as I do. We both share a sense of security, my bed, and delicious smells drifting from the kitchen. To me, it’s wherever I feel calm and happy. Home is my comfort zone. It’s family. It’s friends. It’s neighbours. They are the elements that make my house a home. But home could also be your own country. Like when I travel abroad, I miss my home, Canada. This feeling reminds me that home isn't only confined to four walls, but can be as expansive as an entire country. From up in the stars, I see that we’re all part of one big home, connected in ways we often forget. So no matter where life takes me, I know I will always carry a feeling of home with me.
