At Home

At home, I smell dad’s famous chocolate chip cookies and mum's fresh candles. On movie nights, the warm aroma of buttered popcorn wraps itself around our home. On Sundays, I wake up to the smell of eggs, bacon, and my favorite omlettes. I hear the comforting voice of my father, and how he talks to my mum about how each other's days went at work. I hear my mum talk to my grandma on the phone on how my life is going and what sports I do.When people walk in front of our house, I hear my dog bark loudly. Sometimes, when my dog barks it's annoying, but I love her very much. When my dad’s favourite music comes on, I hear singing. I taste my favourite food my mom makes. Baked macaroni. I like the foods mum is really good at cooking. I taste the goodness of German dumplings on my birthday. My grandma makes them with me. I want to learn to make all of my favourite traditional German foods. I see my absolutely adorable dog. I see her when she lays on my bed in the morning when I don't want to go to school. I see my room and my bright red guitar and the red and black guitar pick I use to play it. At home, I feel comforted when my mum talks to me about some people she doesn't get along with after I tell her about a rough day I had with other people from school. I feel comforted when dad and I watch videos of guitar solos after a rough day. At home, I feel loved, cared for, and safe.
