Meaning of Home

I’ve had a lot of houses but I've only had one home. Your home doesn't always have to be where you live. Sometimes it’s a different place; for example, your grandparent’s house or your best friend’s house. Home is the place where you feel the most welcome. For me, home has always been the condo my mom had in Toronto and the apartment my dad had there. Toronto was the place that I lived at for half of my life and where all of my friends lived, but maybe that might change because your feelings about places can change. The place where I live right now might become where I feel most welcome soon, maybe I just need more time. I know one thing for sure, you can't change someone’s idea of home. You may move around a lot but you will always have a home, someplace where you feel welcome and wanted. Some people don’t have a home but maybe they’ll find one soon. Some people may never find a home to be welcomed into, maybe that’s because they need to make others feel welcome instead of just looking for a place to be home. Sometimes people who are lonely wish they were just nicer to people earlier in their life so they weren't alone when they grew up. Home is the place where you can be yourself. The meaning of home is different to different people so this is what it means to me.
