Home Sick

I woke up, smiling, my mom was beside me, with a huge smile on her face. “Welcome home!” She exclaimed. I started to giggle, last night I came home from a trip but I fell asleep in the car so mom carried me to bed. I had insisted on coming home before my seventh birthday. My mom scooped me up and carried me to the washroom. “Go brush your teeth and wash up, I made your favourite breakfast!” She exclaimed as she tickled my stomach. After I brushed my teeth I put on my favourite T-shirt and jeans. I ran downstairs and gasped as my mom had put a flower necklace and a birthday boy badge on me. Then my dad brought in a birthday cake pancake. “Happy seventh birthday Atlas!” Dad exclaimed. I finished the pancake quickly and jumped out of the chair. “I love you guys.” I smiled “I love you, Atlas,” Dad grinned back “I love you, Atlas,” Mom gushed. Seconds later there was the sound of a gunshot, then someone barged into the kitchen and shot the ceiling. Everything was a blur, blood soaked the floor. When I woke up there was someone in front of me holding a sign that said: Welcome! I started to sob. “WHERE ARE THEY?” I screamed. The lady kneeled her head down. After I stopped crying she pulled a piece of paper out of her paper and read. “Dear Atlas, We love you so much, whoever tried or did hurt us has been stalking us for the past few years. We both knew this was happening but we avoided it. I’m sorry you had to go through this, I hope you love your new home. Love, Natalie and Charlie (your parents) With a cheque for three million dollars.
