Home to Me

For me, home is the smell of my mom’s bannock baking. We eat it while it’s warm with honey, jam, or peanut butter. Home is the pictures I see on the walls that are memories of special times where my family laughed and played. Home is where the medicine wheel painting my grandma made is hung up beside the back door in her memory. This painting reminds me of her because I miss her so much and now she is always home with me. Home is where I have dried sage and sweetgrass on top of my fridge. It is where I use the medicines for smudging at home and this is so healing for me. One more home that is the best home in the world is the classroom. The most important people in my classroom are my best friend and my teacher. I feel good when I walk into my home. My mom and my siblings all love to cuddle up when we are all together. There is lots of love in my home. This is what home means to me.
