The Feeling of Home

Home. A place of security, of memories, of time with family. The feeling of togetherness. Where feelings come, and feelings go, and feelings return. Where you love, and care, and share your life with each other. Home is where you feel a sense of place. Like you really belong there. A house is a place of brick walls, of empty rooms and dust. But a home is a place with a real atmosphere. Where you can see that photo you took last summer at the beach, or the football trophy you won. A home is a place that is yours, and your family’s, but nobody else’s. It’s your special place, where you share things together. Home is where you have feelings. Feelings of joy, of sadness, even anger. But just like the day comes after the dark, eventually the sadness is replaced with happiness, and anger is resolved. I don’t have a trophy, but I do have medals. I don’t have a normal house, I have an apartment. But I have my hamster, Hammy. I have Mom, I have Dad, I have my sister Faith. It doesn’t matter what kind of house you have, it’s what you do with the house you have. Missiles and bombs may destroy, and bullets may kill. But the memories of home last until the day you die. A house is just a building. But a home is a place where you have fun, play games, and share your life with each other. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for hosting this contest!
