My Home Sweet Home

There's a difference between a house and a home. A house is just a building… cold, lonely, and empty. A home is a place where you can go to eat and sleep. A home is a place where you can feel safe, a place where you can be loved by everyone and where you don't have to be worried to do something wrong. For a while I lived in a house, not a home. Everyday all day long I would be at the park or at a daycare because I didn't have a safe home. Then one day, it dawned on me That I still have a mother who cares so much about my brothers and me She bravely, quietly took all the pain And all the responsibilities To build a safe and happy family With her open and loving arms She would comfort us With an encouraging smile hiding her agony, she makes me feel warm inside. With all her strength day and night, she lovingly kept us in her heart and in her mind With my mom we have found a safe and loving, happy home
